Your Anaesthesia Fees Explained

The provision of Specialist Anaesthesia Services will attract a fee that is separate to that charged by hospitals and other doctors involved in your care.  This fee will vary according to the complexity and duration of the care required.  At Northern Anaesthetics, we endeavour to inform you of such costs ahead of your episodes of care.  Please feel free to contact us to discuss such matters with our helpful staff.

Generally, fees for Specialist Anaesthesia Services will be eligible for a rebate from Medicare and your private health insurer.  Commonly, an out-of-pocket expense or gap is required to cover increasing practice costs as Medicare and health insurer rebates have not been indexed appropriately for many years.  The size of the gap fee varies according to your health fund and your level of coverage.

For more information regarding fee structures and reimbursements, please consult the Australian Society of Anaesthetists information sheet entitled:  Health insurance rebates for anaesthesia procedures
